Valérie Nagant
Valérie Nagant was born in Belgium in March, 1972.
Fascinated by photography since she is a little girl, Valérie knew very quickly how to impose her style. Inspired by her numerous journeys in the Middle East, in India and in Pakistan she experienced very beautiful human moments.
At the age of 23, she leaves Belgium for Dubai where she lived during 13 years. Her diploma of Institute of Photography of New York in her pocket, she begins naturally her professional career as assistant beside Souheil Semaan, renowned photographer in the Middle East. Besides photography, she opened an MSF office to which she dedicated herself during three years. The only value in her eyes is human nature.
Begin then a long work on children's photographs, in edition XXL. It was a success. Her studio ' Comptoir des anges ' is born in 2003 with in her portfolio also advertisement campaigns for big international brands.
As a photographer for the magazine Equestrio Arabia, her second passion: horses will make her travel in all the Middle East and brought her new cultural and artistic discoveries.
In 2005, she made a fabulous journey in India where she met the famous French photographer Sarah Moon who she admired since years, she gave her the most beautiful compliment of her career by saying about one of her photo: " I would have liked to have done it myself ".
Her more personal work took off with her first solo exhibition in November 2011 "From Manhattan to Brooklyn via Jaïpur. A photographic work where gathers the unlikely and the unforeseen of actors in a city life.Her photographic work is a kind of social footprint for generations to come, when modes, habits, decors will have changed.
Since then, she already exhibited in the Art Fair of Antwerpen in march 2012, in New York with the United Gallery at the AAF in april 2012 and in Brussels at the gallery Artemptation in May 2012.
Capture a decisive instant on the street, fabulous theatre of life is her passion, following the example of one of the rare women Street Photographer such as Vivian Maier or Dorothea Lange and Garry Winogrand, .... Today, her accomplished work shows her intuition and a big mastery of light. It illustrates poem, magic, instant of human nature in stages of daily life. Her world definitely pushes the spectator within the limits of its imagination.
